Morgan spurlock

Morgan Spurlock puts himself in situations that are difficult and somewhat dangerous like filming in a war zone which is very difficult at the same time dangerous, he experiments the detrimental effects of eating junk food, he went to prison which was a difficult task. The approach he uses is by advertising his films on twitter, Facebook and eBay to give people the opportunity to buy the naming rights to his films, his other idea of making a movie is by making film for a company and the whole project will be funded by the company, everything that happens in the movie from beginning to ended is branded…everything that appears in the film will be in form of advertisement. for example; selling the greatest shoe, the greatest car all stuff of branded items.
His films are effective because he makes it to look like the goals of his films is transparency, which is basically being free from deceit, readily understood and characterized by visibility. I personally feel that his approach in making films is not the usual approach but it might be one of the best because he shows the true image of what he is trying to pass across.

In Response To ” Make Up” by yahyaayman

“Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder”. Yahyaayman puts us through in knowing what girls go through to bring out the sexy and attractive looks when they appear in public specifically to attract guys. Girls go a mile to get the most attractive face powder, lip gloss, eye shadow, mascara and all sort of cosmetics just to force out the beauty they ‘think’ is hiding without all these chemical substances.

Generally, men are attracted the most by ladies who do not hide their real beauty with make up, so, no matter how expensive the cosmetic set, it wont add a pinch to what a guy thinks about your beauty. However, lipstick and a bit of face powder are not to that extreme.

Ladies…lets be natural.

In response to “The ring of the dove”

The ring of the dove is a popular Arabic belle-lettres by ibn hazm, the book discusses and shows the Art and practice of Arab love. The ring of the dove by Ibn hazm is a 29 chapters book which explores crucial topics about love such as: The signs of love, love at first sight, love after long, hinting with the eyes, allusion by words, breaking off association…without going against Islamic teachings.

Majorly, love is categorized into two types. Firstly, the love at first sight; this is a situation when two people fall in love at their first encounter but usually without knowing each other. this type of love at times is usually does not last long. On the contrary, love by association involves two people knowing each other over a long period of time before falling in love, and it is very effective and lasts over a long period of time.

They both work for me. 😀

Concorde

The collaboration of french and British government has brought up to the invention of the BAC Concorde- a turbojet supersonic passenger aircraft. Concorde started flying in 1969, however, it started service in 1976 and continued as a commercial air craft for 27 years.

While regular commercial airlines take 8  hours to fly from New York to Paris, the average flight time for the supersonic jet on the trans-atlantic routes was just under 3.5 hours. The maximum cruising altitude of the turbo jet is 18,300 meters and average speed of mac 2.02(2,140 km/hr), more than twice the speed of a normal aircraft.

On 25 July 2000, Air France crashed, killing 100 passengers and 9 crew members on board the flight and 4 people off board which waas the only fatal incident involved with Concorde.

On 10 April 2003, Air France and British Airways simultaneously announced that they would retire Concorde later that year.

In response to “Effects of violent video games on children.”

Recently, Violent behaviors of children has caught the attention of parents. Parents have been concerned about the selling of violent video games to children under the age of maturity(18).  According to Anderson and Bushman (2002), violent video games have a great impact on aggression and wild behaviors in children and adolescents. As video games has become part of children and even adults, it is very hard to quit playing the violent video games but it can be moderated.

Moreover, violent video games have resulted to some serious health issues in children’s brains like hallucinations, epileptic seizures which are resulted from the fast flickering of the television screen and other problems like obesity resulted from siting in one position and eating junk food at the same time. However, research has shown that have obesity  tend to be more violent in school.

Parents should monitor and check the age labels on the cover of the video game disk.

Arabic vs English in Arab world.

Arabic is the first language spoken in all the Arab countries, Has it been taken and practiced in that way? English language is a western language and yet is spoken in almost all schools in the Arab world as the language used in teaching. The word ‘Arabizi’ is a term for Arabic and Inglizi (English).

According to Dr khawlah Ahmed, “The language issue is causing a great deal of concern and posing many challenges because the official language of all Arab countries is Arabic. An important matter of concern here is Arab-Islamic identity, which many believe is at stake,” this implies that the introduction of English to Arab speaking world has negative effects on the Arabs and the language by reducing the rate at which the Arabs speak their language and reducing the proficiency they have in it.

The children that attend schools where English is spoken tend to speak more of English even when they are back at home while their parents speak more of Arabic, this tends to affect “Harmony” of the relationship between them.

According to Villetabeitia (2005), young Jordanians that study abroad find it very difficult to express certain words in Arabic, but rather, the express word that are considered taboo like ‘sex’ and can’t be talked about in Arabic, it sounds “Haram” (sinful).

There should be a practice termed as “bilingualism”, a situation where by individuals are able to speak two languages such as English and Arabic, without one being dominant over the other. If other people can be bilingual, why can’t the Arabs be?

Orientalism

The term Orientalism is used by the western writers, artists, designers and even the media to make the people of the middle east appear as violent, and even threat to the western community.

Everyone has an idea of the people living in the middle east, their believe(Islam), how they act, their physical appearance, even if one has not met anyone from that part of the world. The media is the major factor showing the middle eastern people in a negative way.

The media is the major source of orientalism, it shows fake and negative sides of the eastern world. The situation that occurred on September 11th 2001 in america(World Trade center) had and is still having a great impact on the ‘Arabs’ that live or visit the western world. The television media stated that “The threat of Muslim extremists operating within the united states is an ongoing danger, something we have to live with from now on”, From my own point of view, this is a very sensitive statement that will have impact on millions of people and its also tarnishing the image of the ‘Muslims’.

Nowadays, Arabs that reside in the United kingdom and the United states of america have minimal freedom and security.

In response to “12 Benefits Of Hiring Old Workers”.

One of the problems the society faces now, as a whole, is whether older workers make better workers and whether they should still work fulltime, part time or even retire.

Having read an article on the 12 benefits of hiring older workers got me thinking. Old workers are beneficial, but so are the young workers. With young workers there is more productiveness, creativity, ability to work under pressure, innovation, keep up with technology.

Though older workers have more experience, dedication, are more loyal, reliable and possess stronger work ethics. So, it really isn’t a question of whether to hire old workers or not, or who are more beneficial (the young or the old). It is more of finding which works best for a company, firm and establishments so it can achieve its set goals and aspire.

This might be with just aged workers, young ones or even a combination of both.
